Crossing Borders

Good Day.

Finally a new Blog entry Zwinkerndes Smiley

Well, i made my way to Cambodia!!! My very stressful way. Getting over the Border from Thailand to Cambodia mostly happens over Poipet, which is probably the most fucked up town I've seen so far. All what they tell u about it is true, if you have the money, take the fucking plane!!!

But anyways, i made it alive into Cambodia, after crossing 4 Border Checkpoints. Everybody at the border tries to scam you, from the Guide who brings you threw the Borders, over the Exchange Banks (GO! LAST BANK! WITHDRAW 20000 BAHT to get cheap exchange course in Cambodia!!!) I thought, go to hell, my travel mate didn't, gladly i was right. Because all here is paid in Dollars, they even charge u more when u pay in Riel. So lucky me i didn't exchange a single dollar Smiley

It was a 13 Hours (at first they said 6 Zwinkerndes Smiley ) Bus drive from Koh Chang to Siem Reap. And with greetings to Cornwall, i PAYED 500 BAHT for it!! But that for i got scammed on the Visa for Cambodia which costs me 1200 Baht, which was way to much but hey, that's the only point the got me here!

On the way to Siem Reap we made a stop in some small town to eat, we got a out of the Bus and a lot of little girls approached, with a perfect English language skills (they were just 4 years maybe!) so they come to me, yelled, MISTER! FREE WRISTBAND FOR YOU! They put it at my Arm, soon as she locked the Knot the Girl said, 1000 RIEL MISTER!! Smiley mit geöffnetem Mund I gave here the Money, because she made  the wristband with her own hands, so she actually worked for the Money, which is good! I would not give Money to people who are just begging(except they are disabled), because i think its bad to do that.

Well, arrived at the Hotel we got scammed again, the Tuk Tuk Driver charged us 20000 Riel, which are like 4 Dollars or something for the Drive to the Hotel. Arrived at the Hotel the Hotel guy asked, did he just take money from you? “Yes, why?” He's supposed to drive u for free! Oh really? fuck.

Anyways, beside the People who try to Scam you the People in Cambodia, so far, are all REALLY friendly, more friendly than Thai people! They are all kind and helpful AND their English is VERY good compared to Thai English!

Yesterday so it was just a short evening and going to bed early, for find a new accommodation today, because the yesterdays was without windows. So today i found some for 9$ A Night, including Fan, big 28 m² Room, Breakfast and a Bicycle! Because i need to get 2 more injections the next 5 Days i will stay probably for 6 Days in Siem Reap.

Today i made my way to scout out a little bit of the City, but not for long, because its searing hot here. U cant stand the heat at midday.

Il share few first impressions of Cambodia with u, enjoy.

Well, a very first nice day. As i said, i got like 6 days here and tomorrow and day after tomorrow is weekend, so i maybe will go to Angkor first on Monday, will probably be the better decision..

On one Hand, the People are very nice, Hotels are clean ( more than in Thailand!!) and overall its a nice first impression, on the other Hand, you see first that there are no old People, because most of them got Killed by the red Khmer. So its a very young population. They are all talkative and stuff, and the Gap between Poor and VERY poor is small. There are lot of street kids begging for food and money, you’ll walk down one street, see 5 Stars Hotels and on the next street there are Mother with Kids laying on the Street begging for food, that's hard to see, but its Part of the Travel.

With this last words i hope u enjoyed the entry and ill send new stuff as soon as i visited Angkor. Have a joyful weekend.

Li Hai!

  4. this is how all rivers in SOA look like. I think its just from all the mud coming up with the waterflow, but i wouldnt take a bath in there either.
