Is the Name of a very nice Rice Spirit Cocktail they serve here, and also the Name of the most awesome Country I've been so far. The People are just really friendly, its very different from Thailand and Cambodia. The People are more laid back, they don't care about much things, they serve really nice food and are talkative without wanting any stuff of you.
Still in Pakse we were going to visit a Waterfall in the Countryside of the Boleavan Plateau. It was a very Huge one, but its dry season at the Moment so it wasn't that much Water on it.
See some of the Pictures
That's a Plateau on the Top of the Waterfall
The Waterfall.
After that, was the lowest Part of it, we were going upriver to find a Place to have a Swim.
Nice little Hut to rest
Stony Track, my previous stone experiences on the Walchensee and Croatian coast definitely paid off
Some locals diving for Clams and invited me to Join them. Sure i could not refuse.
Hello there
Those guys got some small Heads!
He tried to fix it for me but still too small
Yea man, perfect!
But in the end i didn't find any! Anyways it was fun for them see me making a fool of me
So i did what suits me more, climb up stuff to join the other guy on his comfortable seat
No accident!
That was a very nice day at the Waterfall! But didn't finish yet, after we going to a Hill Climb for visiting the Big Buddha on Top of it. So, to climb a Hill, you need a decent Motorbike no? So why not take another driving lesson, this time: OFF ROAD!
This thing should bring us up! 250cc Baja Motorbike.
View from the Top Hill over Pakse.
The Buddha.
It was really impressive. U could see him from all over Pakse area.
That Day was really exhausting with a lot of driving but worth in the End. Pakse area is great.
Next Day we were going to visit Champasak, which is a Khmer Temple in Lao, if you've been to Angkor its quite ridiculous, but because there were no tourists, only locals it was GREAT experience!
The Gateway to the Temple with Mount Penis(no joke) in the Background
The downside part of the Temple is not impressive at all, so i show you the Way up and the Upside.
Good Condition Road leading up
And the Condition gets better
Simply Beautiful
Upside View
The Temple on Top.
As i told you, Lao People don't care. At all.
Very nice atmosphere there
The Inside
They say, somewhere there is the Footstep of Buddha. We didn't find it.
Some refreshment with holy Water
Yea, sure.
As if
Was nice to see that place, especially without other tourists.
On the Evening we went to the Mekong to see the Sunset.
Sitting in the Restaurant i thought, the Kids are taking a Bath! Lets go!
And what happens when you refresh yourself in Lao?!
You will receive a Free Beer from Local Teenagers for sure!
And finally the Sunset, and a local Girl who greeted us.
The end of another awesome Day in Laos.
The next morning we went on a 2 hours trip down to the 4000 Islands. Decision was easy on which we are going. We are on Don Kong now, the Neighbour Island of Don Det. It is a big Island on the Mekong River. Jeb. On the River.
The Mekong River is just HUGE. On its widest part around 14KM wide. So we arrived with a Long tail.
Up on the Boat.
And onwards to Glory!
Same Same but different.
First Task: Find Accommodation ( 5 Euros a Night divided trough 2) check!
Second Task: Get the Reward! Check!
So first Day on Kong was just checking out the surroundings, walking a lot.
Sounds great! On nearly every Restaurant and Bar on Don Det you can choose your Happy stuff. Like Happy Banana Shake, Happy Pizza, Happy Burger, Happy everything.
So after walking around the Island we enjoyed the first and very nice sunset on Kong.
Next Day: Visit the Waterfall and Beach on the other side of the Island.
Lets go!
Welcome to the Danger Zone
Very Big Waterfall
The “Beach”
Very strong current here, you have to be extremely careful.
After that we were going to the end of the Island, where the Mekong is very big. And its Home of the only 100 worldwide remaining Irrawaddy River Dolphins
The Mekong is just Awesome.
After that and after a long exhausting way Back just stop at a Temple.
Just a small one but quite peaceful Place.
Holy Cow! What a Day!
Soooo! Yesterday was amazing! Get up at 6, go on the Bicycle, drive 5 Kilometres trough the Jungle and go on the Boat to see the Irrawaddy Dolphins! We were Lucky! We've seen them!!! Taking Pictures is hard but i have just some.
Buddhists collecting Money in the Morning.
Ready to go.
As i say, hard to get them on Tape, but we’ve seen them! Quite far Away from the Boat, cause the Land u see in the Background is already Cambodia. Was a nice experience!
On the Way back there was the nicest Monkey ever. He's caged, but he do tricks and stuff really funny. Connection is to bad to upload a Video.
He is just really nice looking.
Ello Sir
School Kids cooling down in the Mekong in their Break.
So do the Water Buffalos.
And at the End of the Day i made a new Friend again. The Cow.
In this sense, i like Lao. It is different from any other Country i visited so far. We spend today here in the chill out Place and do nothing at all, because it starts to get REALLY Hot now. Locals are just laying down the whole day. Good Idea of them.
Tomorrow we will leave Kong and go back to Pakse cause i need my last Rabies injections. After another Night in Pakse we will head North, where, we have no Idea yet. So the next Blog entry will have to wait i think cause Internets rare in the North. And this one took me 2 Hours to write it now
I Hope i could share some nice impressions of Lao. Its just Great. Just come here and have a really nice Time. You will not regret it.
Thanks for reading, hear you soon, stay safe.
Some really nice pics again. Especially the ones with the ape ;)
